I picked up one of these cards dirt cheap for use as a RAID-6 array controller. http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/raid/sas_raid/sas-72405/ It'll support 24 drives of 3TB or larger; quite a bit better than the Dell PERC6/I in use right now.
I know that it's designed for a pizza-box server case - the spec says 200 linear feet per minute of airflow. I have a 50mm fan installed on the stock heatsink, but it's not quite enough to keep this chip below 50C.
I'd really like to cool this card passively or very quietly. The 50mm fan is as slow as I could find, but it's still at the upper end of the acceptable noise range.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere.
Do any of you know of something that might work out of the box, keep the card cool, and not keep me awake at night? I'm fine with a nice big, slow fan blowing on a heatpipe heatsink.
